American director Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) reunites with Australian visual effects company Animal Logic in Sucker Punch, to be released on March 24, 2011.
After recently working together on the estimated $100 million, 3D adventure Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole, Snyder and Animal Logic strap themselves in for another blockbuster; this time an epic action/fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality.
The film follows Babydoll (Emily Browning) who is confined to a mental institution in the 1950s by her stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While there, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain, and in that world, she begins planning her escape. Needing to steal five objects to help get her out before she is deflowered by a vile man.
The estimated $90 million film is scheduled to be released in both conventional and IMAX cinemas.
