Press release from Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation

Sydney’s only dedicated children’s film festival, the Sydney Kids Film Fest, kicks off the spring school holidays with a jam-packed program, running between Saturday 25 September and Monday 27 September at Hoyts Entertainment Quarter.

The Sydney Kids Film Fest has movies and more in store for kids and families, featuring not only new and well-loved local and international children’s films, but also short films created by some of the brave and inspiring patients at Sydney Children’s Hospital.

Highlights of the three day Film Fest include:

Red carpet pre-release screening of Roadshow’s newest animation, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’hoole, voiced by Geoffrey Rush and David Wenham and based on popular book series by Kathryn Lasky (Sat 25 Sept).

Pre-screening of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, a film based on Jeff Kinney’s illustrated novel which was best seller on The New York Times Best Seller children’s books list for 74 weeks (Mon 27 Sept).

Special song and dance screening of Disney’s High School Musical 3. Sing-along, with fun performances from a Brent Street Studios dance ensemble (Sun 26 Sept).

Two VIPs (Very Important Patients) from Sydney Children’s Hospital have created short films around the theme ‘adventure’ that will be screened before each session throughout the Film Fest (Sat 25 – Mon 27 Sept).

All proceeds from the Sydney Kids Film Fest go to Sydney Children’s Hospital to help seriously ill and injured children from all over NSW and beyond.
