Sydney Film School (SFS) invites you to its Open Day taking place from 2pm on Saturday 3rd September. Come in and meet the SFS teachers, students and graduates. Ask questions and find out a bit more about the course structure, application process, Vet Fee-Help, timetables, school's philosophy and daily life.
You will also have a chance to see a sample of recent short dramas and documentaries produced by SFS students and listen to a panel of teachers, graduates and current students discussing the Sydney Film School’s practical, hands-on training, both in 16mm and digital film.
The Open Day starts at 2pm and runs until all the questions have been exhausted. Coffee, tea and cup cakes will keep you going!

ABOUT SYDNEY FILM SCHOOL
The Sydney Film School is a premier creative institute for emerging filmmakers, specialising in both 16mm and digital film training.
The Sydney Film School Diploma of Screen and Media and Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media courses combine the teaching of theoretical/creative processes and practical hands-on film production, with the emphasis on practice.
The classes in both drama and documentary production cover all essential aspects of filmmaking: from Pre-production (research, script writing, pitching, casting, production management, design etc), to Production (crewing, working with actors, lighting, filming, recording etc) and Post-production (editing, music, sound mixing copyright, distribution etc).
Within the unique thesis film classes students develop their individual creative voice and build a catalogue of cinematic references that strengthen each project. Teachers create a supportive environment for constructive feedback and criticism.
The practical process is supported with sessions in Screen Language, Australian Cinema and Meet the Filmmaker special guest screenings.
One hundred students, both from Australia and abroad (20 different countries are represented in 2011), study together to explore and develop their passion for film and prepare themselves for what awaits afterwards.
More than one hundred and twenty quality documentaries, dramas and individual thesis films, exploring all manner of cinematic forms are being produced each year, dozens of them participating at prestigious local and international festivals.
Since the School’s establishment in 2004 student films have screened in 88 festivals, winning 24 awards!
