Jane Campion has become the third woman to be awarded the Best Director Oscar after being recognised for 'The Power of the Dog' in a highly charged Academy Awards ceremony at the Dolby Theatre.
This year's Academy Award nominations are a showcase of Australian and New Zealand talent, with Jane Campion's 'The Power of the Dog' leading the race with 12 nominations, and further nods for Nicole Kidman, 'Dune' cinematographer Greig Fraser and the 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' VFX team.
In addition to host Rebel Wilson, there is set to be a significant Antipodean presence at this year's BAFTA Awards, with Jane Campion's 'The Power of the Dog' scoring some eight nominations today, and cinematographer Greig Fraser also recognised for his lensing of 'Dune'.
Australian cinematographer Ari Wegner will be presented with the Variety Artisan Award at this year's Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
As anticipated, writer-director Jane Campion's 'The Power of the Dog' will make its world premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival.
