Ahead of the opening of 'Avatar: The Way of Water' on Thursday, the national box office plummeted to a new post-2021 lockdown low last weekend.
Last weekend proved to be the slowest at the box office this year yet, with national receipts the lowest they have been since 2021's COVID-19 lockdowns ended.
While Roadshow Films took local musical comedy 'Seriously Red' wide, it had a relatively slow start at the box office last weekend.
'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever'
remains far and away the main event at the box office, out-performing the next highest grossing title, 'Black Adam', by nearly tenfold. 'She Said' was the best performing new title, drawing a bigger crowd in Australia, pro-rata, than in North America.
Find someone who went to the movies last weekend, and there's around a three in four chance they went to see 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever'.
