Actor Kodi Smit-McPhee, director Rolf de Heer and Roadshow Films CEO Joel Pearlman are among the Australians who have been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) this year.
This year's Academy Award nominations are a showcase of Australian and New Zealand talent, with Jane Campion's 'The Power of the Dog' leading the race with 12 nominations, and further nods for Nicole Kidman, 'Dune' cinematographer Greig Fraser and the 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' VFX team.
As anticipated, writer-director Jane Campion's 'The Power of the Dog' will make its world premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival.
