Written by Emil Stern and based on Robert Cormeir’s book of the same name, Tenderness is directed by John Polson (Hide and Seek, Swimfan) and stars Academy Award® Winner Russell Crowe (American Gangster), Laura Dern (Inland Empire), Jon Foster (The Mysteries of Pittsburgh) and Sophie Traub (The Interpreter).
When Eric Poole (Foster) is released from a juvenile detention centre he returns home to live with his Aunt (Dern). Eric soon finds himself the target of unwanted attention when a young girl with a fascination for the macabre deliberately tracks him down and ingratiates herself in his life. But Eric is also being hounded by a veteran cop (Crowe) who’s determined to prove that Poole is not the repentant boy he seems to be.
A psychological drama, Tenderness is about finding tenderness… however it presents itself.
