Starring Mark Wahlberg (The Departed) and Christian Bale (The Dark Knight), The Fighter is an inspirational true story of two brothers – Dicky and Micky – who come together to train for a historic boxing title bout that will unite their fractured family, redeem their pasts and, at last, give their hard-luck town what it's been waiting for: pride.
Bale plays a former boxing legend who turned to drug abuse, while Wahlberg's character is now the family's "boxer", who could become World Heavyweight Champion.
Deservingly so, the film has received seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director (David O. Russell), Best Supporting Actor (Bale), Best Supporting Actress (Amy Adams and Melissa Leo).
The film was released by Roadshow on January 20 and has since grossed $4.06 million at the local box office.
