Australia’s number one drama series, Love Child is back for a second season on Tuesday May 5 at 8.40pm on Channel Nine.
Stars Jessica Marais (Dr Joan Millar), Jonathan LaPaglia (Dr Patrick McNaughton) and Mandy McElhinney (Matron) are returning, with Matt Le Nevez (Jim), Lincoln Younes (Chris) and Andy Ryan (Dr Simon Bowditch) joining the top-notch cast.
Also returning to the outstanding ensemble cast are Gracie Gilbert (Annie), Ella Scott Lynch (Shirley), Miranda Tapsell (Martha), Sophie Hensser (Viv), Harriet Dyer (Patricia) and Ben O’Toole (Pete).
In the premiere episode it’s the eve of 1970, the dawn of a new decade, and Joan Millar (Jessica Marais) is now a qualified doctor at Kings Cross Hospital. She’s working hard to prove herself, but the appearance of a mysterious pregnant girl and the return of Dr Patrick McNaughton (Jonathan LaPaglia) threatens to throw her career off track.
Meanwhile, Viv’s (Sophie Hensser) dreams of an exciting future in Sydney are threatened by the sudden appearance of her mother (Jacqueline McKenzie). Still stinging from being sent away to Stanton House when she fell pregnant, Viv is less than happy to see her, especially when she discovers the sinister reason for her mother’s visit.
Annie (Gracie Gilbert) appears to be keeping it all together, balancing her singing career with motherhood, but her life as a single mother is not quite as it seems.
Each character’s path to freedom has trials and tribulations, but it is the birth of one baby in particular that changes the lives of many. An era of great change, season two brings births, deaths and marriages to 1970s Kings Cross.
Love Child is produced by Playmaker for the Nine Network.
