Animated blockbuster Toy Story 3 has crept past Harry Potter to become the ninth highest grossing movie at the Australian box office.
The Disney-Pixar film, released on June 24, has now made a staggering $42,369,928 to become the ninth highest grossing film locally, narrowly beating 2001 flick Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
It is also Disney's highest grossing film of all time Down Under, surpassing Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, which took $38.05 million in 2006.
The animated masterpiece – about Woody, Buzz, and the rest of their toy-box friends who are dumped in a day-care centre after their owner Andy departs for college – made almost $7.5 million opening weekend.
Topping the list is the James Cameron classic Avatar, which has made $115,468,550 and counting after still being shown at IMAX.
