Tropfest Bright Spark to get IFSS scholarship

The International Film School Sydney (IFSS) is delighted to announce that they will provide the winner of the Movie Extra Tropfest 2009 BRIGHT SPARK award with a scholarship to IFSS’ two year Advanced Diploma in Screen and Media – valued at $40,000.

The BRIGHT SPARK will be awarded to a short-listed filmmaker to encourage their development and interest in film production, this is the first year IFSS has sponsored the award.

IFSS’ Head of School, Duncan Thompson said, "Awards such as the Bright Spark, are vital to supporting the developing of Australia’s filmmaking talent. We are excited to be involved with Tropfest this year and look forward to welcoming the winner to our school."

Established in August 2005, International Film School Sydney (IFSS) is Australia’s premiere independent film school. The school’s program is based on intense and immersive education that positions IFSS as Australia’s most comprehensive, production-focused film school. The school trains both domestic and international students in producing, writing and directing and is located at Roseberry, about 5km from Sydney’s CBD.

The winner of the BRIGHT SPARK award will be announced on Sunday 22 February 2009 in Sydney’s Domain.
