Filmmakers Nadia Tass and David Parker, the award-winning Aussie team behind Malcolm, The Big Steal and Amy, come to Cinema Nova to discuss their new film, Matching Jack – a powerful emotional drama about the bond between parent and child.
The film is the story of Marisa (Jacinda Barrett) whose idyllic life turn upside down when she discovers that her husband (Richard Roxburgh) is unfaithful and is planning on leaving her for his current mistress (Yvonne Strahovski). At the same time, her son Jack (Tom Russell) is unexpectedly diagnosed with Leukaemia. The only possibility of a cure for Jack is if David has had a child from one of his earlier affairs who could be a compatible bone marrow donor. As Marisa goes on a bizarre search in an attempt to turn her husband’s infidelity into a positive, a chance encounter with another parent, Connor (James Nesbitt) and his son Finn (Kodi Smit-McPhee), leads them on an unpredictable journey of love and hope.
The preview screening will be followed by a Q+A with Nadia and David.
Tuesday August 17, 6.30pm at Cinema Nova – 380 Lygon Street, Carlton, Victoria.
