Press Release from SPAA
As part of the newly introduced 360 Strand, the Screen Producers Association of Australia (SPAA) Conference will kick off with the audience in mind.
A new report on moviegoing habits by Stradella Road, the US entertainment marketing firm founded by guest speaker and former New Line web expert Gordon Paddison, will be delivered on the opening day Wednesday, 18th November. The key message being that if marketers are wanting to access the younger demographic then they need to embrace social networks.
Paddison will join a group of entertainment marketers in a session entitled, Making Movies that Make Money: Begin with the Audience in Mind. They will discuss targeted movie marketing, divulge techniques and trends, outline how and where audiences are consuming content and provide an essential perspective that will reorient the approach to storytelling, distribution and marketing towards the next generation of media platforms.
The 360 Strand is designed to inform and assist television, film and cross-media producers to develop successful, revenue earning, multi-platform projects. Other sessions in the strand include:
– Show Me the Money! Finding Revenue Streams from Digital Distribution. Will look at what producers need to know and do to make money from emerging content channels.

– A Case Study of Emmy-winning The Truth About Marika. Swedens Christopher Sandberg talks about producing his landmark participatory drama and a decade dedicated to exploring human interaction and audience involvement in modern entertainment.
In addition to the program sessions, the strand will include for the first time the 360 Market – on Friday, 20 November – where producers can book 15 minute meetings to develop relationships with potential partners and discuss the multi-platform potential of their projects at an early stage in their development.
