Creature Nfx Workshop Established 1986

Creature Nfx Workshop is Australia’s premier film and television Animatronics Company. The company was started in 1986 by Paul Trefry, with a passion for building things. This passion grew over the decades and remains with him to this day. Creature Nfx Workshop is an internationally recognized company that has clients all over the world.

With 38 years of industry experience there isn’t much we haven’t been asked to construct. With this experience we are able to foresee any possible problems that may occur and take steps long before they would happen. We pride ourselves in producing beautiful work and with all our projects we don’t over compliant things, and keep things simple and stress free for both you and your client.

Over the years we have worked with directors such as, Ridley Scott, James Cameron, Angelina Jolie and Baz Luhrmann just the mention a few. Our film credits include, Ultra Man, Oceans (Disney), Unbroken (Angelina Jolie), Bleeding Steel, Alien Covenant, Aqua Man, Storm Boy, Children of the corn, Interceptor, Black Snow, The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Fall Guy, and The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart.

Paul the company director is also an international, multi award winning hyper realistic sculptor and his talents are used every day producing realistic animatronics for the film, television, theatre, museums and advertising.

We specialize in animatronics but also do model making, animatronic costumes, miniatures, stunt dummies and props.

Our workshop can cater for any size project with in house machine shop, 5-axis CNC machine, 3D printers, fabricating areas and spray booth. The company has grown is size over the years and the present day can be found at Canal Road in Leichardt, 10 minutes from Sydney’s CBD
