Flickerfest congratulates all the Academy Award nominated short films recently announced and is pleased to report that three films nominated had their Australian premieres at Flickerfest last week and two of those films will be touring the country with the Flickerfest 2009 tour.
The Sydney Flickerfest festival featured the already multi-award-winning short film Auf Der Strecke (On the Line) from Swiss filmmaker Reto Caffi, produced by Ute Dilger; a dramatic short film that forms part of the International 1 programme which is screening across the nation, starting in Byron Bay and then travelling to Alice Springs, Adelaide, Kempsey and Sawtell in NSW, Brisbane, Perth, Broome and Hobart.
Flickerfest also congratulates the French filmmakers Elizabeth Narre, Olivier Pont and Sebastien Hussenot for their film Manon Sur Le Bitume (Manon on the Asphalt) which has also received a nomination in the short film category, together with Auf Der Strecke. Manon Sur Le Bitume had it’s first Australian screening in Bondi as part of the International 4 programme
In the short animation category of awards, the whimsical Lavatory Love Story from Russia, directed by Konstantine Bronzit and produced by Alexander Beyarsky & Sergey Selyanov has also been nominated. This film also features in Flickerfest’s touring programme, International 2, which will screen in Byron Bay on Saturday 24th, Alice Spring on Saturday 31st January, then in Avoca, Kempsey & Sawtell in NSW, followed by Brisbane in late February, Perth in early March and Canberra on 21st – 22nd March, together with The Best of Australia Shorts.
Flickerfest is delighted at the success of these films that all premiered in Australia with Flickerfest 2009 and sends the filmmakers best wishes for their nominations for the Awards in February.
