BO Report: Eddie the Eagle soars, Huntsman stalls, Midnight Special debuts

Disney's The Jungle Book continues its charmed run at the Australian box office, dropping only four percent over the weekend to pull in $5.7 million.

At 304 locations across the country, Jon Favreau's film is about to crack $20 million overall.

Next best was Fox's Eddie the Eagle, starring Hugh Jackman and Kingsman's Taron Egerton. Debuting on 274 screens, the comedy-drama has so far taken $3.1 million.

Disney's Zootopia dropped only twelve percent over the weekend, ringing up $1.6 million to bring its cume to $26.2 million after six weeks. 

Universal's Melissa McCarthy vehicle The Boss pulled in $1.5 million in its second week and has now racked up more than $4.5 million.

McCarthy's comedy is performing similiarly to eOne's critically excoriated Allegiant: Part 1, which made $1.4 million over the weekend for total grosses of $4.4 million after two weeks.

On 268 screens, Fox's Kung Fu Panda 3 dropped a mere thirteen percent in its fifth week, bringing its total to $12.3 million, while Universal's Huntsman: Winter's War scored $726,440 over the weekend, for a cume of $6.1 million after three weeks.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 (on 236 screens) has made $14.7 million after five weeks, while WB's Batman V Superman (on 198 screens) has made $29.2 million in the same time, though most of that was in its first week.

Rounding out the top ten was eOne's Eye in the Sky, which made $331,718 over the weekend and has now made over $2 million in five weeks.

Debuting at number eleven was Jeff Nichols' Midnight Special, starring Joel Edgerton and Michael Shannon, which rang up $98,544 at 19 locations (a $5,187 average per screen).

Transmission's Sherpa dropped thirty percent over the weekend to pull in $79,887 on 34 screens, bringing its cume to $836,989 after four weeks, while Roadshow's The Daughter, in its sixth week and still on 50 screens, dropped twenty-five percent to make $51,422 over the weekend

Simon Stone's film has now made $1,610,770 overall.
