The opening night of the Cockatoo Island Film Festival descended into a PR disaster after punters were left stranded, many venting their frustrations on social media.
Reports suggest that at least 100 people, including buyers of tickets costing $120, were sent to the bar for free drinks after being turned away from cinemas.
Complaints ranged from poor signage and a lack of marshals, to overpriced food and beverage, and uncomfortable cinema seats. One disgruntled patron tweeted: “Thank god I wasn't the only one to notice the terrible organisation of the Cockatoo Island Film Festival opening night:”
