Flickerfest travels to Hobart

Flickerfest crosses the Bass Strait to get its acclaimed shorts to Hobart on March 19 & 20 and then back to the nations capital in Canberra on March 21 & 22 and travels up North to Townsville also on March 21 & 22.

Tasmanian audiences will get to see the fabulous International 1 programme on Thursday March 19 at The State Cinema in Hobart www.statecinema.com.au.

International 1 features the Academy® Award nominated On The Line, along with Natalie Portman’s directing debut Eve and AFI Best Short Film Award winner Jerrycan. Tasmanian film Freefall will also screen on Opening Night produced by Catherine Pettman and directed by Jane Binning. An after party with nibbles and drinks provided by Flickerfest sponsors Coopers, The Wine Society, Jameson and Nudie will keep the celebrations going after the 6:30pm screening.

Screening from 9pm on Friday March 20 will be the Best Of Australian Shorts Programme including Frank Woodley’s hilarious short Chicken Of God and the Flickerfest 2009 Most Popular Film Award Winner fOUR about free love, friendship and fondue.Flickerfest’s tour to Hobart is supported by Screen Tasmania & Screen Australia.

Our nations capital will be next to host Flickerfest – screening at the Dendy Cinema Canberra Centre on March 21 & 22.

Flickerfest will be kicking off its Opening Night by screening the outstanding International 2 programme featuring the Flickerfest 2009 Best Short Film Award Winner Dennis and the Academy® Award nominated Russian short Lavatory Love Story. Free wine tasting will start the celebrations from 6pm and an after party with nibbles and drinks provided by Flickerfest beverage sponsors Coopers, The Wine Society and Jameson will keep the party going after the 7pm screening.

The award winning Best Of Australian Shorts programme will screen from 7pm on Sunday March 22nd including the AFI nominated animations Mutt & Chainsaw, along with the terrifying thriller Advantage. Flickerfest’s tour to Canberra is supported by Screen Australia.

Flickerfest will also screen in Townsville for the first time on March 21 & 22 with an Opening Night drinks to celebrate Flickerfest’s arrival. Townsville audiences will also get a taste of the best of Australian shorts on offer from Flickerfest 2009 screening the Best Of Australian Shorts programme at Dancenorth www.dancenorth.com.au.
