Prime Minister, John Howard, stopped by Traffick-Jam

Hot on the heels of its release to selected cinemas across the country, The Jammed has now entered the Australian political arena, after John L Simpson of Titan View Distribution brought the film to Prime Minister, John Howard’s attention. The PM said he is aware of sex trafficking in Australia and looks forward to seeing the film at a Parliamentary screening.  

‘The topic of the film is now a hot political global issue and couldn’t be ‘more timely’, said John L Simpson who had to take a second mortgage on his home to launch the film into cinemas. Inspired by actual events the film has had rave reviews and Four and a half stars from both The Age and the Sydney Morning Herald and has been playing to jam packed audiences. The film started in one cinema in Melbourne ? and incredibly topped the opening weekly screen average for any Australian film for the last six years. It is now showing in selected cinemas around Australia.

John L Simpson and writer / director Dee McLachlan also addressed delegates from APEC at a media conference outlining the problems of trafficking in the region?along with Sharan Burrows (President of the ACTU) and Law academic, Jennifer Burn of the Anti-Slavery Project. ‘People trafficking, the sex trade and the exploitation and abuse of workers, especially migrant workers, are the ugly faces of globalisation,’ said Ms Burrow.
