Foxtel commissions a second series of Tony Robinson’s Time Walks

Foxtel has today announced the commissioning of a second series of Tony Robinson’s Time Walks, to be shot in various locations around Australia and New Zealand later this year.

The first series, which aired late last year, proved to be hugely successful and is currently the second highest rating series ever on The History Channel (following the enormously popular Tony Robinson Explores Australia).

In season two, the 10 x 30 minute series will once again see the Robinson as host, bringing his unique storytelling style to ten new locations: The Barossa Valley, Canberra, Parramatta, Geelong, Townsville, Kalgoorlie, Wellington, Christchurch, Alice Springs and Uluru.

In a statement made to the media, Foxtel’s General Manager of Factual Channels, Jim Buchan said, “The first series of Tony Robinson’s Time Walks was a runaway success for The History Channel, redefining how relevant and accessible our brand commissions can be in delivering new untold histories to our audiences.”

“Tony brings such great energy and perspective to the series and we’re delighted to have him back on board for another series.”

British actor/comedian/TV presenter Robinson said, “I’m over the moon to be making a second series of Time Walks and can’t wait to get back to Australia to discover even more of the hidden history that lies behind, above and below the places Australians walk every day.”

Tony Robinson’s Time Walks will commence production in April 2013 and will go to air on The History Channel in early 2014.

Tony Robinson’s Time Walks is produced by WTFN Entertainment and is exclusive to The History Channel.

  1. I met Tony Robinson yesterday whilst having lunch at Jacob’s Creek.
I briefly mentioned to him that my partner and I have amn Indonesian restaurant in the old copper mining town of Burra in SA. He seemed very interested when I mentioned that Burra mining history started in the 1840’s and involved miners from Wales and Cornwall.
We would love to see your team here some day.
    Cheers,
Francis Walling & I Putu Suta

  2. Great to have Tony visit Parramatta again. Especially now when a group of artists, historians, academics and former occupants of its most infamous site, the Parramatta Female Factory Precinct are leading the way to secure the site from further demolition by neglect by activating it as a cultural hub and previsioning it as a Site of Conscience through a contemporary art and social history project known as the PFFP Memory Project. Cheers from the Parramatta Female Factory Precinct (parragirls) Memory Project Team.
