Actor Guy Pearce has received a Golden Globe nomination for his role in mini-series Mildred Pierce.
Pearce, who scored a nod in the Best Supporting Actor category, was the only Australian nominated.
Pearce won an Emmy for the role earlier this year and has also been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild award. In the series, he plays the love interest to Kate Winslet's 1930s housewife.
The actor will compete against Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Paul Giamatti (Too Big To Fall), Tim Robbins (Cinema Verite) and Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family) for the award, which recognises the performances of actors in series, mini-series or telemovies.
Meanwhile, despite much critical acclaim, the Steve McQueen-directed film, Shame, which was produced by Emile Sherman and Iain Canning, received only one nomination, which went to Michael Fassbender in the Best Actor category.
The film, which opens in Australia on February 9, follows the downward spiral of a sex addict.
The 69th Golden Globe Awards will be held on January 15, 2012.
