The Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) Film Festival has opened for submissions, with this year’s theme ‘Making Diversity Great Again’.
Shorts are invited that explore the positive side of cultural diversity or examine potential barriers to inclusion – with the festival noting “efforts to promote cultural diversity and inclusion have been under threat for some time now, with fear and division on the rise around the globe”.
The call out is for films 3-12 minutes in length, whether fiction or documentary. Projects that have been originally created for another competition or purpose will be accepted, and will be judged in two categories: under 25s and over 25s. Entries are open to anyone but at least 50 per cent of the shortlisted films will be chosen from Victoria.
Shortlisted entries will be screened at Melbourne’s Capitol Theatre May 23, with prizes to be won on the night.
