Ever had trouble finding movie session times for that latest release? Or maybe you’ve been looking all over town for a cinema playing your favourite flick?
Google Australia today announced a new search feature that enables users to quickly and easily find movie showtimes in their local area, at the click of a mouse. With the help of the new Google movie onebox on http://www.google.com.au/, users can now find and compare movie session times in their local area.
To see how it works, just enter in a movie title and a city, like [The Jane Austen Book Club Sydney]. Above your normal search results, the movie onebox shows you the cinemas where the movie is playing, and allows you to see showtimes side by side for these locations. Additionally, Google provides a link to Google Maps for each cinema so that you can easily print directions to and from your cinema of choice. The Google movie onebox allows you to see additional information such as movie critics’ reviews for movies, and uses ratings from across the internet to create an aggregate star rating. If you don’t know what movie you want to see, you can just type ‘movies’ and your city name (or post code) to find the local movies playing in your area.
‘We know that when new movies – like The Jane Austen Book Club – are released, Australians are very likely to use Google to search for information about the movie. This new feature is great because it makes it easy for Australians to find cinemas, and see the latest movies, whenever it’s most convenient for them,’ Scott Lemos, Digital Marketing Manager of Sony Pictures Releasing Australia, said.
