Miffy the Movie and Tad the Explorer available for download

May 29 will see the release by Transmission Films of two children’s animated features on 3D Blu-ray + Blu-ray Combo, DVD and digital download.

Miffy the Movie is based on the stories of Dick Bruna and will also be screening at selected cinemas nationally from May 11-15.

Since Dick Bruna first drew Miffy her popularity has grown worldwide with over 85 million books sold, a wide range of merchandise, musicals and a TV series. Now fans will be delighted to know she will have her first movie – and, for the first time, her own voice!

Miffy the Movie is suitable for young children and as Miffy regularly asks them to join in the treasure hunt the film becomes an unforgettable experience.”

The film’s director Hans Perk is president and CEO of A. Film L.A., Inc., the Los Angeles associate of A. Film of Copenhagen, Denmark, Scandinavia's largest animation studio. Perk made a comment on afilmla.blogspot.com.au on 30 January 2013, the date of the film’s Dutch release:

“Some potential viewers are asking if it isn't too much a "baby movie" for them to enjoy. I can only say, 1) your kids will love it, as many thousands have before them, and 2) listen to the score! Tom van Beers' full orchestral music, arranged by Martin Fondse and recorded by the Dutch Metropole Orchestra and the Prague Symphony Orchestra is certainly a highlight of this theatergoing experience!”

The second film to be released by Transmission Films is Tad the Explorer, harking from Spain. From the press release:

Tadeo has always wanted to become an adventurous and famous archeologist but instead he spends his days daydreaming between the cranes and cement on the building site where he works. The chance to fulfil his dreams comes along when his friend, a celebrated archeologist, receives a mysterious stone tablet: the key to the route to the Lost City of Paititi and its legendary treasure. Just as he is about to start out on his journey, the archeologist suffers an unfortunate accident and Tadeo must take his place on the expedition.

With the help of an intrepid archeologist, a parrot with a strong character, a strange guide with a surprising multipurpose overcoat and Tadeo’s inseparable dog, he will undertake a risky adventure to save the Lost City from an evil band of treasure hunters.”

The film, nominated for 4 Goya awards and 5 Gaudi Awards, is a hit in Spain.
