Network Ten today announced the appointment of John Choueifate as Director of News, Sydney.
One of the most experienced television News and Current Affairs executives in Australia, Mr Choueifate will be responsible for TEN Eyewitness News Sydney and the servicing of national bulletins and segments produced in Sydney.
Mr Choueifate is a former Executive Producer and State Producer at Seven Network, and Director of News and Chief of Staff at Nine Network Sydney.
He worked at Network Ten from 1988 to 1991, including stints as Chief of Staff and Foreign Editor. He is also a former Director of State Strategy for the NSW Government and a former Director of the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
Network Ten Chief Executive Officer, Hamish McLennan, said: “We are very pleased that John has agreed to come back to Ten.
“He is one of the best News and Current Affairs executives in the country and will bring his vast experience and contacts to TEN Eyewitness News and our Sydney newsroom.”
Mr Choueifate said: “I’m excited to be returning to the Network where I began my television career. TEN already delivers a quality bulletin and with the support of the team, which I hold in high regard, I want to take it to the next level. The emphasis will be on breaking more stories, local issues and more investigations.”
Mr Choueifate will join Network Ten on December 16, 2013.
