In just 26 months KidzFlicks (Sydney International Festival of Films by Children) has grown from a one day screening of films made by Sydney children to a spectacular 5 day, 6 venue festival, of child produced films from all over Australia and the world.
The 2014 KidzFlicks Awards, being held April 1 at Event Cinemas Bondi Junction, demonstrates this growth and the diversity of child film production by including awards for animation, documentary, drama and foreign language films as well as many key creative roles in filmmaking.
With awards presented by industry professionals and support from many key organizations in the Australian professional film industry, the 2014 KidzFlicks Awards will be an entertaining, fun and moving event.
The 2014 KidzFlicks Awards will also include a screening of the Australian winners and a short Q & A with two child filmmakers – and all in just one hour! There will be a chance to meet the filmmakers, KidzFlicks team, film industry professionals and some of the amazing teachers who support the schools entries after the ceremony.
KidzFlicks gives every Australian child the opportunity to screen their film and all communities in Australia the opportunity to experience their children’s films.
KidzFlicks screens only child produced films and includes work from children up to 12 years of age. The youngest filmmakers to submit films in 2014 were preschoolers.
Child film production is increasing significantly every year in Australia, however there are few opportunities for children to screen their work outside their own community or enjoy the films children in other communities make.
KidzFlicks takes on this challenge.
At KIDZFLICKS 2014 some 305 child-produced films from 12 countries screened in six venues over five days.
