On Wednesday, November 12, Australians in Film (AiF) will host a special 20th anniversary Q&A screening of the multi-award winning Australian hit film, The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, to mark the launch of Australians in New York.
Australian writer and director Stephan Elliott and Academy ® Award winning costume designer Lizzy Gardiner will be there for the Q & A forum when attendees will be invited to ask questions about the process of making the smash hit film, still revered and fondly remembered by worldwide audiences 20 years later.
The screening is the first in a series of events which aim to recognise the contributions of individuals to the Australian screen industry at home and abroad. The program, soon to be announced, will support screen industry professionals with screening programs, marketing initiatives, educational labs and seminars in conjunction with the Australian Consulate-General in New York.
AiF President, Simonne Overend said, "Establishing a chapter in New York is the next logical step for AiF to take. The city has a thriving network of Australians working in the screen industry and we intend to put on a series of educational events to help build their industry contacts and support their working knowledge and skills."
