Brisbane-based, BAFTA and Emmy award winning company Hoodlum has announced the names of the four Queensland practitioners who are part of their Ignite initiative, an important part of the Screen Queensland and Screen Australia funded Early Career Screen Program.
Ignite is a structured residency program that arms early career producers with hands-on experience to develop their individual projects to a market ready stage, developing and producing programs to reach a global audience.
‘Hoodlum’s Ignite initiative is an important vehicle for us to continue to foster an industry that is agile and able to successfully compete in a rapidly changing and global screen landscape,’ said Screen Queensland’s CEO Tracey Vieira.
‘It will play an important role in creating vital pathways to take these four producers from the early stages of their development and grow their careers rapidly over the next few years which will result in more Queensland stories on screen and greater economic growth of the sector.’
Following an open and competitive selection process, the successful applicants for the Ignite program are: Megan Doneman—an experienced film producer wanting to move into television and with an exceptional pitch ready concept; Sally Madgwick—a producer with a long standing commercial business with several great properties in development and; Ashley Monroe and Adam Fowler—an innovative company focused on branded content, with a unique take on short run storytelling.
Nathan Mayfield, Chief Creative Officer of Hoodlum said, ‘Hoodlum will facilitate and support these talented Queensland producers to grow their businesses and fully equip them in building a sustainable, successful screen businesses.’
Screen Queensland unveiled its Early Career Screen Program in 2014 following in depth industry consultation.
The program has been constructed to build meaningful career pathways for early career practitioners and industry workers seeking to develop their craft and acquire new skills.
