NIDA open day

LOOK BEHIND THE CURTAIN THIS MAY AT NIDA’S OPEN DAY

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of the school that trained some of Australia’s greatest actors, directors, writers, designers, costume and props creators and screen and stage professionals?

On Saturday 14 May from 11am, the National Institute of Dramatic Art will open its doors so that you can find out more about everything the centre has to offer through classes, demonstrations and presentations by current students, alumni and staff.

“NIDA is the goal for many creative young people around Australia, and our Open Day is a great opportunity for them to learn more about what we do and how they can be part of our community, whether that is as an undergraduate or graduate student, or through one of our vocational diplomas,” says NIDA’s Deputy Director and one of Australia’s leading designers, Michael Scott-Mitchell.

“Our experienced staff will be on hand to answer any questions and to showcase just how much NIDA has to offer across our vocational diplomas in Musical Theatre, Specialist Make-up and Live Production and Technical Services, our Bachelor degrees in Acting, Design, Production, Props-making, Costume-making and Staging, and our Masters degrees in Cultural Leadership, Directing, Design, Voice and Writing for Performance.”

Open Day guests will be treated to panel discussions from NIDA’s teaching staff, students and alumni, demonstrations by NIDA’s talented students, behind-the-scenes tours of the NIDA Theatres, a peek into the props and staging workshops, and a revealing look at what goes into creating NIDA’s spectacular costumes.
