Announcing the winners for the second Antenna International Documentary Film Festival:

SBS award for Best International Documentary Film: Planet of Snail by Seung-Jun Yi

Award for Best Australian Documentary: My Thai Bride by David Tucker

ABC Award for Best Australian Short Documentary: Feel Home by Lee Blignaut

International guest to the festival, Seung-Jun Yi took out the SBS award for Best International Documentary Film worth $3000 in prize money, for his film Planet of Snail, with a special mention going to Malika Zouhali-Worrall Call me Kuchu.

Victorian filmmaker David Tucker’s film My Thai Bride won the Australian competition for his film about the foreign marriage industry and the pitfalls facing would-be couples, while Lee Blignaut won ABC Award for Best Australian Short Documentary for his film about a pigeon race “Feel Home”.

Awards were announced at the closing ceremony of the festival at Sydney’s Dendy Opera on Sunday night, which concluded with Call me Kuchu.

“Congratulations to Antenna’s award winners for this year. We are overwhelmed with the excellent standard of documentaries submitted and excited for another successful festival in 2012. Thank you to all the people who participated in the festival including our judges, international and local guests, partners and sponsors,” said Antenna founding director, David Rokach.
