Aussie film advertising agency launches

By Simon de Bruyn

An advertising agency specifically targeting the Australian film industry has been established by Josh Pomeranz of Spectrum Films, Rachel Dixon of Handshake Media and several industry stakeholders.

Pomeranz explained that the agency, called Hard Day’s Night, aimed to help the film industry better monetize the high quality content being produced and fill the clear need to improve the marketing and advertising campaigns in the Australian film industry.

“We are currently experiencing a boom year in terms of production for Australian film, and we want to create a vehicle that distributors, producers and investors can utilise that will be a one-stop shop for advertising and marketing expertise for our industry,” he said.

“Before deciding to create the agency, we talked to many people inside the industry and the response was overwhelmingly positive. I see so many filmmakers put their heart and soul into good films, but they aren’t getting the audience they should be. We need to get more people to see Australian films, and we want to help make a difference.”

Hard Day’s Night will focus on the strategic elements of marketing campaigns, and partner with distributors’ existing marketing teams, or do the production of creative and key art in house.

INSIDEFILM understands the agency will hire a range of people from outside the film industry so that it can harness successful advertising and marketing techniques from other industries, as well as apply new thinking to traditional film publicity campaigns.
