Australian independent musical comedy SUNSET SIX to play encore theatrical seaso

Press Release from Cinema Nova

Due to the popularity of THE SUNSET SIX event screenings held at the Carlton theatre, Cinema Nova is pleased to announce the Australian comedy will open for an exclusive theatrical season on May 23rd.

First-time director Jeremy Stanford said ‘Cinema Nova has really distinguished itself as Melbourne's home of independent cinema by supporting our film. It is the ideal place for our film to call home, and we're thrilled that our season's been extended there.’

The limited screenings this week, which included a Q&A and live in-cinema performance from The Sunset Six band, saw sold out houses, confirming Melbourne’s enthusiasm for local feature films. With this expansion of THE SUNSET SIX’s release Cinema Nova continues its successful run of independently released Australian films including Genevieve Bailey’s I AM ELEVEN, Robert Connolly’s UNDERGROUND: The Julian Assange Story, John Duigan’s CARELESS LOVE, Gillian Armstrong’s LOVE LUST AND LIES, John Doggett Williams’ PURE SOUND and Rohan Spong’s ALL THE WAY THROUGH EVENING.

SUNSET SIX is the story of legendary guitarist Riff (Greg Stone – The Bank, Underbelly Razor) who has faded into relative obscurity. With his new band The Sunset Six, Riff has one last chance to make it but unfortunately his band is falling apart at the seams. The film stars a huge line up of home grown musical talent, including Rachael Tidd (June Carter in The Man in Black) and Lulu McClatchy (BBC's Supergirly).
