Calling all Tassie doco filmmakers

Press release from Screen Tasmania

The Documentary Australia Foundation (DAF) is a private philanthropic initiative to provide information and resources to philanthropic grantmakers, charitable organisations and documentary filmmakers in order to explore, share and enhance their mutual objectives of creating a better society.

Following last year’s successful DAF seminar, Susan MacKinnon will be holding another event, again hosted by Screen Tasmania.

DAF continues to attract private funds to documentaries, now having received nearly $2m for production.

Filmmakers are becoming more proficient at articulating their outreach strategies for their films which is attractive to the donors.

This year’s seminar will be an opportunity for Tasmanian practitioners to workshop individual projects to see what specific ways DAF may be able to support them.

Those wishing to workshop a project at the meeting should first check the DAF website and read the approvals list, some of the case studies, and the “filmmakers” and “grant makers” pages.

Should you require further advice, please email a one-page synopsis to Evan Maloney for feedback and an assessment of whether the project aligns with the DFA’s brief.

When: 2pm – 4pm Friday April 1, 2011
Where: Come to the Screen Tasmania office, 4th Floor, ANZ building, 22 Elizabeth Street, Hobart.

Those wishing to workshop a project must RSVP by COB Thursday March 31 to info@screen.tas.gov.au including the project’s title and a short synopsis.
