'Kung Fu Panda 4' took the top spot at the Australian box office from 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire' after its box office take lifted 8 per cent to $3.67 million in its second weekend.
A monster rematch and a bamboo-wielding panda bear delivered a one-two punch to rule the Easter weekend box office, with 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire' and 'Kung Fu Panda 4' taking in a combined total of almost $9 million.
'Ghostbusters: The Frozen Empire' grossed more than $3 million at the Australian box office over the weekend to take the number one position from 'Dune: Part Two'.
'Dune: Part 2' underlined its blockbuster status after grossing almost $4 million in its third weekend to pass the $23 million mark.
After just two weekends, 'Dune: Part Two' has already overtaken the lifetime gross of the first film.
'Dune: Part Two' has delivered cinemas their first blockbuster hit of 2024, with the sci-fi sequel posting the highest opening weekend of any film released since last July's 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer'.
