Press release from TV1
KILLING TIME, one of the most gripping and controversial Australian stories ever produced, will finally hit Australian television screens later in 2011 exclusively on FOXTEL and AUSTAR. KILLING TIME was slated to debut on TV1 in 2010, and then due to proceedings before the Supreme Court of Victoria was delayed until now.
TV1 will premiere episodes 1-6 of this much anticipated series, the balance of this incredible 10 part, 1 hour series will be postponed to avoid potentially impacting ongoing matters currently before the courts.
KILLING TIME is a hard hitting powerful drama, inspired by the story of disgraced former criminal lawyer Andrew Fraser played by highly respected actor David Wenham. In his high-flying days, Fraser seemed untouchable as he represented the famous and notorious, including Dennis Allen, Jimmy Krakouer and Alan Bond. Wenham is mesmerising as the cocky lawyer who made a fortune out of the Melbourne underworld and eventually joined them when cocaine starts to take over his life.
David Wenham said: "It has been said that the life of Andrew Fraser is like a John Grisham novel. Only real! Killing Time was an opportunity for me to work with some of my favourite actors: Colin Friels, Kris McQuade, Terry Norris, Diana Glenn, Kerry Walker, John Brumpton and some actors that I hadn't previously worked with: Kate Jenkinson, Malcolm Kennard and Richard Cawthorne among others.
"The performances of all these actors are terrific and working with them was the highlight of the series for me. I congratulate TV1 for having a genuine interest in and supporting quality Australian drama."
Peter Hudson, CEO TV1, said: “Killing Time is our biggest local production yet and I am tremendously proud of the commitment that brings this incredible story to life. The amazingly talented actors, the crew and the production team at FremantleMedia, have exceeded expectations to deliver a brilliant piece of original Australian television. Killing Time is essential viewing.”
Ian David (Blue Murder, 3 Acts of Murder) heads the writing team which includes Mac Gudgeon (Last Ride, Halifax, Stingers) and Katherine Thomson (Satisfaction, Answered by Fire).
KILLING TIME was created by Bravado Productions and is a FremantleMedia Australia production for TV1. The production team is being led by Jason Stephens (Executive producer/Producer) and John Wild (Producer). FremantleMedia Enterprises holds the exclusive worldwide distribution, licensing and home entertainment rights for KILLING TIME.
