This September, IMAX Darling Harbour and IMAX Melbourne Museum will take audiences on a breathtaking tour of deep space with the release of the new documentary HIDDEN UNIVERSE 3D, narrated by Golden Globe winning British actress Miranda Richardson and from Australian filmmakers December Media.
Bringing the Universe to life on the giant IMAX screen with unprecedented clarity, the film incorporates mesmerising real images captured by the world’s most powerful telescopes including the Very Large Telescope (VLT), the ALMA and the Hubble Space Telescope.
Audiences will explore the earliest galaxies and travel the terrain of Mars; peer deep inside vivid clouds of nebula to see previously unseen forms such as pulsars and gas jet streams; glimpse new stars being born in the Carina Nebula; and witness high-definition images of distant celestial structures including stunning new images of the sun.
“Hidden Universe offers new images of deep space phenomena from the world’s most powerful telescopes,” said producer Stephen Amezdroz. “This new technology allows scientists to peer back even further into space, revealing secrets that until recently were completely hidden.”
In an age where space tourism has become reality, Hidden Universe 3D offers an inspiring story of human endeavor and provides new insight into how the Universe was formed from a prime IMAX seat with a magnificent point of view.
Hidden Universe 3D is a December Cinema Productions film produced in association with Film Victoria, Swinburne University of Technology and the European Space Observatory. Executive produced by Emmy®-award-winning producer Tony Wright, produced by Stephen Amezdroz and written and directed by Russell Scott. Produced in association with MacGillivray Freeman Films.
Hidden Universe 3D will be releasing at IMAX Darling Harbour on 5th September and IMAX Melbourne Museum on 12th September 2013.
