Flickerfest continues to traverse the wide brown land with its national tour reaching Broome on March 13 & 14 and hightailing it back in time to hit Bathurst on March 13.
The Sun Picture Theatre in Broome will host Flickerfest’s Opening Night on Friday March 13 – a lucky day for the audience as they celebrate with drinks & nibbles toasting the brilliant International 1 programme. Highlights include the amazing BAFTA nominated Yours Truly, the Academy Award® nominated On The Line and AFI Best Short Film Award winner Jerrycan along with the touching film Eve starring Lauren Bacall and directed by Natalie Portman.
The Best Of Australian Shorts programme will screen on Saturday March 14 showcasing the best of Aussie shorts in competition at Flickerfest 2009. Featuring a fantastic line up of talent with Chicken of God written and directed by Frank Woodley (of Lano and Woodley comic duo fame) and the cheeky 2009 Flickerfest Audience Award winner fOUR.
Broome will also get to see 2 locally made films on the big screen. On Friday 13th March will be Bollywood Dreaming from filmmaking family Dot West, Mitch Torres and Cornel Ozies, starring another family member Jedda Rae Hill and on Saturday14th March, the short film Who Paintin’ Dis Wandjina, directed by Taryne Laffar, produced by Janine Borland and featuring footage of local elders, artists and artwork will be up on the screen prior to Best of Australian Shorts. Bathurst also gets to see Flickerfest’s Best Of Australian Shorts programme on lucky Friday March 13 at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre. Yummy food sampling from local eateries will accompany the bright filmmaking talent.
