Geoff Lamb wins Ellie Awards for both ‘Talk to Me’ and ‘The Clearing’

Geoff Lamb was a double winner at Saturday’s Ellie Awards, taking home prizes for his work cutting both feature film Talk to Me and Disney+ series The Clearing.

Held at Sydney’s Australian National Maritime Museum, the Australian Screen Editors’ annual awards saw trophies given out across 15 categories.

Lamb beat out Margi Hoy for Sissy, Dany Cooper for Carmen, Nick Meyers for The New Boy and Simon Njoo for The Stranger to win Best Editing in Feature Film for Talk to Me.

He secured Best Editing in Drama for The Clearing over Melanie Annan for Safe Home, Matthew Evans for Significant Others, Adrian Rostirolla for The Messenger and Ariel Shaw for Heartbreak High.

Other drama winners included Daniel Oates, who won Best Editing in Children’s Entertainment for Barrumbi Kids; Annabelle Johnson, who Best Editing in Comedy for Deadloch and James Taylor, who won Best Editing in a Short Drama for Mud Crab.

Best Editing in Documentary Feature was won by Steven Sander for Volcano Man, while the prize for Best Editing in Documentary and Documentary Series went to Aleck Morton and Lydia Springhall for Queerstralia. Zoe Davis and Brian Hovmand took home Best Editing in Factual Entertainment for Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, while Sam Hart got the gong for Best Editing in Reality for Alone Australia.

A number of editors were accredited during the ceremony: Roger Carter, Peter Crombie, Meredith Watson Jeffrey and Simon Callow-Wright.

Most Outstanding Early Career Editor was awarded to Cameron Drew, while Emerging Editor: Student Award on behalf of Alan Chambers of the WA Screen Academy.
