Paris, 1 February 2016 – Reed MIDEM today announces that the renowned, New York Times No.1 bestselling author Harlan Coben, President of Vivendi Content and Global Managing Director for the Havas Media Group Dominique Delport, and Mattel’s President and Chief Operating Officer Richard Dickson will be keynote speakers at MIPTV 2016.

Organised by Reed MIDEM, the MIPTV global entertainment content tradeshow takes place in Cannes, France, from 4-7 April 2016.

The first three keynote speakers confirmed for MIPTV 2016 will explore – each from their own perspective – how today’s talent-led ecosystem is increasingly powered by communities of fans. This means the traditional content value chain is transforming dramatically, with broadcasters, platforms and creators having to connect to enthusiastic audiences – millennials, Gen Z and beyond – through attractive, innovative, and sticky content. 

As Mattel’s President and COO, Richard Dickson is responsible for all aspects of Mattel’s iconic portfolio of global consumer brands, including Barbie, Hot Wheels, and Thomas & Friends. Through Mattel’s content development and distribution teams, audiences and consumers are provided with a large range of engaging and exciting experiences across multiple platforms, including movie specials, series and fresh short-form content. Mattel’s properties are also deeply engaged with fans through the digital ecosystem, digital video and vlogging talents.

In acknowledgment of its track record as an innovative content creator and forward thinker, Mattel has been named MIPTV 2016’s Brand of the Year.

With over 60 million books sold worldwide, Harlan Coben’s last eight consecutive novels all debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list. His 2001 thriller “Tell No One,” was adapted into a hit French-language movie by Guillaume Canet and, more recently, private French channel TF1 adapted his bestselling novel “No Second Chance” into a six-part series that became the highest rated French TV series in a decade. Harlan’s forthcoming opus, “The Five,” an original drama for Sky1 (UK), produced by the UK’s RED Production Company and distributed by STUDIOCANAL, will be the first original story Coben has written exclusively for the screen. Dominique Delport is a member of the Supervisory Board of French media and telecoms giant Vivendi. In September 2015 he was named President of Vivendi Content, the unit tasked with discovering talent and investing in new forms of video and music content for the group’s different brands, including Canal+, Universal Music Group, and Dailymotion. Delport is also Global Managing Director for the Havas Media Group, where he oversees all brands, clients and commercial activities. Since his appointment, he has set up a number of initiatives that help the agency and its clients respond to the rapid developments in technology, data, content and media. A former TV journalist, Delport won an International Interactive Emmy Award for his work on the show “C.U.L.T.”
