Thanks to a new sponsorship, the next generation of Australian filmmakers have a kick-start in the industry.
When the students of Participate Film Academy made their feature film Green Fire Envy, the most they hoped for was one screening for their family and friends.
All that changed when Hoyts’ National Film Programmer, Marina Vidakovic, read about the film in the Liverpool Press.
Impressed by the students, the school, and the quality of their film trailer – Hoyts Cinemas has now become an official sponsor of Participate Film Academy.
Green Fire Envy premieres March 19 at Hoyts Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park. In addition, Hoyts will also be giving the film – and subsequent Participate features – 7 days limited release at Hoyts Wetherill Park.
Green Fire Envy follows the survivors of a terrible car accident. While Matt, the young driver of one car tries to rebuild his life, Monique, the survivor from the other car, plots a shocking revenge.
This full-length feature film was made by young first-time film-makers, some as young as 14 years of age.
Through Participate Film Academy, they learned all the skills needed to pull this amazing feat off, including producing, directing, camera work and much more.
Their guest speakers included Jerry Jeffress (Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom, Star Wars, and E.T), David Gribble (The World’s Fastest Indian) and Russell Boyd (Gallipoli and Master & Commander) along with talented teachers such as Tony Barry (Australia, Paperback Hero), Samantha Nobel (Gabriel) Rohan Hoole (Court of Lonely Royals) and more.
Now, thanks to the support of Hoyts Cinemas, these budding young film-makers have a venue to showcase their incredible work.
