Hoodlum, an Emmy® and BATFA Award-winning Entertainment Company that specialises in producing high quality content for multiple platforms, has appointed Hugh Marks as an executive director. Marks will work with Hoodlum to deliver on an aggressive growth strategy in the Australian market and oversee further expansion into both the US and UK markets.

The appointment follows Hoodlum’s successful application in 2009 to the Screen Australia Enterprise Initiative. The Initiative will provide support over a three-year period to enable Hoodlum to deliver on its strategic and growth objectives.

About Hugh Marks – Hugh Marks was the Chief Executive of Southern Star Group for three and a half years. Prior to that he ran Southern Star’s production business for three years. Southern Star is Australia’s largest independent television production and distribution group with activities in drama, entertainment, children’s and factual programs. Under Marks Southern Star successfully expanded its’ overseas production interests into the UK (through the acquisition of Carnival Films & Television (drama), OSF Productions (Factual) and Darrall Macqueen (childrens)) and SE Asia. Major current or recent Southern Star productions include “Rush”, “Rescue Special Ops”, “Love My Way,” “Blue Heelers,” “Blue Water High,” “Big Brother,” “Deal or No Deal”, “Strictly Dancing”.
