In The Bin launches in Deniliquin

In the Bin has just concluded one of its best festivals to date, the launch of their 2008 touring festival! The festival held in the beautiful surrounds of Deniliquin, NSW was attended by Australian actor, Chris Haywood who was delighted about the outcome of the evening! Chris Haywood, predominately known for his role in Jindabyne, also won Best Male Lead in September 2007 at In The Bin’s Currumbin Film Festival, where he competed against performers such as Garry McDonald, Kerry Armstrong and Ben Rutherford.

The launch has now kicked off the touring year for In The Bin, which is hoped to be the best year yet! Touring over 65 communities throughout Australia this year alone, with a strong and entertaining program, In The Bin prides itself on travelling to communities in which other film festivals wont. As well as being Australia’s largest touring film festival, In The Bin is the only festival in Australia which pays film makers screening fees. In The Bin also delivers an educational program which inspires and educates budding film enthusiasts on short films and film making to communities across Australia. The vision for the In the Bin Touring Festival is to reach as many communities as possible within Australia, educating more people on all facets of film and film making.  The Touring Festival is currently the largest educational film workshop in Australia.

Mayor of Deniliquin, Lyndsey Renwick quoted that ‘It was exceptional to acquire such a high quality Short Film Festival in our region, as we are a regional community we are usually uncared for in regards to cultural events. Our community felt it was an immense excitement to have In The Bin in Deniliquin to be enjoyed by all’

Patron of In The Bin short film Festival, Jack Thompson, who unfortunately couldn’t attend the Deniliquin Launch, has quoted ‘I think what these guys are doing is just terrific,’ said Thompson.  ‘I’m showing my support by advocating to the Australia public that this is a good thing, it’s getting film out to everyone in Australia and I’m really behind that,’ he added

Director of the festival, Jed Cahill, quotes that the main objective behind In The Bin is to deliver a cultural experience to communities which are not usually fortunate enough to be given the same sort of enriching events which are delivered to the larger cities.

The Deniliquin Launch, which was enjoyed by film buffs and friends and family alike, was the first touring film launch for In The Bin and was a great way to celebrate and commence the great year ahead for In The Bin.
