Flickerfest delves into the great state of Western Australia on its National Tour. Screening in Perth from March 5th – 8th at The Camelot Outdoor Cinema at Mosman Park, visit www.lunapalace.com.au.
Along with it’s stellar line up of international shorts Flickerfest is screening a WA-made film each night prior to the main programme to give audiences a taste of the local filmmaking talent.
Flickerfest audiences in Perth will toast the Opening Night on Thursday March 5th, in a celebratory pre-screening party with drinks & nibbles followed by the International 1 programme, featuring the Oscar® nominated short On The Line, along with Natalie Portman’s directorial debut – the tender film Eve and AFI Best Short Film Winner Jerrycan. Local film Legacy directed by Grant Sputore & produced by David Smith will also be screening fresh from the Australian competition in Flickerfest 2009.
International 2 will screen on Friday March 6th featuring another Academy® Award nominated short Lavatory Love Story from Russia and Flickerfest Best Short Film Award winner Dennis from Denmark. WA short Mobile also heads up the programme, co-directed by Paul Roberts and Gary Cooper and co-produced by Paul Roberts and Robyn Marais.
Cheeky short – You’re Not Playing That! from WA filmmakers Kelli Cross and Irma Wood, kicks off the screening on Saturday March 7th International 3 follows showcasing films from as places as far flung as Mexico with the comedy Paradise Café, along with a moving short from Ireland, The Door and the gleeful Take 3 from New Zealand.
Flickerfest’s Celebrity Shorts programme injects a shot of Hollywood glamour into Perth on Sunday March 8th with a host of films from famous faces usually in front of the camera – Kate Hudson, Jennifer Aniston and Kirsten Dunst along with the riotous short ‘I Am Bob’ starring Bob Geldof as his infamous self. Flickerfest 2009 entry Dogs Run Loose Around Here from Perth director Mike Hoath and producer Tenille Kennedy screens prior to the programme.
Flickerfest is touring to Perth with the support of ScreenWest, Lotterywest and Screen Australia.
