Lion.
Australia has made a strong showing among the nominees for the 2017 Golden Globes, with Lion nominated across four categories and Hacksaw Ridge across three.
Both Aussie films will duke it out for Best Motion Picture – Drama, against Hell or High Water, Manchester by the Sea and Moonlight.
Following on from Hacksaw Ridge's nine AACTA Awards last week, Mel Gibson is up for Best Director – Motion Picture, and the film's star, Andrew Garfield, is up for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama.
Garfield will vie against Joel Edgerton, who has also been nominated in the category for his role in Loving, a film about an interracial couple who are arrested for their marriage in Virginia.
Nicole Kidman's work in Lion has seen her nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture – the 11th Golden Globe nomination of her career. Dev Patel, who plays Kidman’s son in the film, will compete for Best Performance by an Actor in a Support Role.
Lion is also up for best Original Score – Motion Pictures thanks to the work of Volker Bertelmann and Dustin O’Halloran.
Overall, La La Land is the frontrunner for the awards, nominated in seven categories, while Moonlight has drawn six nominations.
The 74th Golden Globes Award ceremony, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, will take place on January 8, 2017.
