The Kriv Stenders-directed feature Lucky Country has taken $13,041 at the box office since opening last Thursday. The Australian-gothic thriller, which cost just over $2 million to produce, was shown across eight screens, giving a screen average of $1630.
Samson and Delilah and My Year Without Sex – also collaboratively distributed by Footprint Films, Transmission Films and Paramount Pictures Australia – both outperformed Lucky Country over the same period.
Samson and Delilah took $80,199 and in its eleventh week is fast approaching the $3 million mark, while My Year Without Sex took $45,364 in its eighth week.
Meanwhile, the Icon-distributed Disgrace took $56,475 in its fifth week while its stable mate Mary and Max took $2,605. Both films have collectively grossed more than $2.3 million this year. Bastardy, the low-budget documentary distributed by Film Camp, added $2,280 in its fourth weekend at two screens and has now grossed $31,746.
The total box office for local 2009 releases has now reached $8,517,713.
