MATTHEW CLEMESHA APPOINTED GROUP CEO OF MAGNA SYSTEMS & ENGINEERING
Now heads-up all Magna offices across Asia Pac
BROADCAST ASIA, SINGAPORE, 23 May 2017 – After 22 years with the company he first joined as warehouse storeman, Matthew Clemesha has been appointed Magna Systems and Engineering group CEO. The move also sees Robert Clemesha move from being the group’s executive chairman to a non-executive director.
Matthew Clemesha’s appointment is a classic case of working your way up to the top as he moved from storeman to warehouse manager, purchasing and logistics manager, being responsible for the company’s accounts and then chief operating officer before becoming group CEO.
Clemesha said, “It’s a great honour for me to head up a company like Magna Systems & Engineering. After 22 years I can honestly say I’ve seen every aspect of our business and have a very clear idea of where the company is headed. We are expanding and growing in all of our traditional broadcast and telecoms areas meanwhile breaking new ground too. It’s a very exciting time to be at the helm and I’m very optimistic for a long and healthy future for Magna Systems & Engineering.”
For Robert Clemesha this year marks his 45th year with Magna Systems & Engineering, the company he joined in 1972 when Magna was the leader in sound dubbing equipment in the developing Australian film industry before becoming managing director in 1982.
Robert Clemesha was instrumental in making Magna active in the arrival of colour television in Australia. He also led the way with the first electronic graphics systems, electronic videotape editing and presentation automation in Australia and directed and oversaw the company’s expansion from Australia to the Asia Pacific setting up offices in New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia.
Robert Clemesha said, “Having been part of the television industry going from black and white to colour, analogue to digital and SD to HD I’ve seen my fair share of change. With that in mind I know when the time is right to move and let others take and drive things forward. Matthew’s appointment as group CEO is a great example of that. After 22 years working with every area of the company’s business no one is better suited or qualified to take Magna into the next exciting chapter.”
