Director Mel Gibson (Braveheart, Passion of the Christ, Apocalypto) will be attending the Australian Premiere of Hacksaw Ridge in Sydney on Sunday, October 16 at the State Theatre.
The film stars Andrew Garfield, Vince Vaughn, Luke Bracey, Teresa Palmer, Hugo Weaving, Sam Worthington, and Rachel Griffiths.
The supporting cast is made up entirely of emerging local actors including Ryan Corr, Luke Pegler, Ben Mingay, Firass Dirani, Nico Cortez, Harry Greenwood, Milo Gibson and Nathaniel Buzolic.
The film tells the true story of Desmond Doss (Garfield) who saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun in the battle of Okinawa.
Gibson's fifth film as director, Hacksaw Ridge debuted recently at Venice to strong reviews.
