Following the huge success of the inaugural MOVIE EXTRA WEBFEST competition in 2010, Movie Network Channels is excited to announce its return for a second year. MOVIE EXTRA WEBFEST 2.0 launches today on Facebook www.facebook.com/movieextrawebfest with a call for entries.

MOVIE EXTRA WEBFEST 2.0 is the competition passionate and aspiring filmmakers have been waiting for, the opportunity to unleash a creative idea and a chance to win a $50,000 production budget to produce a seven part webseries for MOVIE EXTRA. The winning webseries will premiere on
the Movie Network Channels YouTube channel.

MOVIE EXTRA WEBFEST 2.0 invites creatives to pitch an original webseries via a 60 second trailer to be uploaded to the MOVIE EXTRA WEBFEST
Facebook competition page. People are encouraged to engage in the voting process via social media and entries with the most votes have a better chance of getting into the finals. The winner will be decided through a combination of votes and the MOVIE EXTRA judges, who will assess each work not only on creativity but the performance of the trailer in an online environment.

Last year's winning webseries of MOVIE EXTRA WEBFEST, Henry & Aaron's 7 Steps to Superstardom was chosen from over 100 submissions to Facebook
and attracted over 16,000 fans. The webseries went live on www.youtube.com/mnctv in June and has achieved over 69,000 views since the premiere.

MOVIE EXTRA WEBFEST also proved to be fertile creative ground for MOVIE EXTRA who commissioned three additional entrants webseries. Livin with
Steve, Shaaark! and Mollusks were identified as compelling online and digital content which Movie Network Channels sought to foster and further develop ready for a September 2011 premiere.

Online content initiatives allow Movie Network Channels to expand its digital footprint explains Peter Jenetsky, General Manager of Content Strategy & Marketing for Movie Network Channels "we are now entering a decade of 'platform polygamy' where consumers are readily engaging with internet and mobile video platforms as well as social networks to seek, discover, and engage with content and brands. It is therefore vital to our continuing product development strategies to embrace and explore new platforms and relevant content creation opportunities.

MOVIE EXTRA WEBFEST 2.0 is a unique digital and creative content programme. It provides aspiring producers a fantastic opportunity to not only receive funding for their projects, but to also build and hone skills in production and digital media."
