New pitching event at AIDC

The 2016 Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) will feature a new international pitching event for non-fiction screen content.

Entitled The FACTory,  the event will provide a unique opportunity for early career and established filmmakers to pitch ideas to international decision makers – including digital media publishers, subscription and free-to-air broadcasters, sales agents, distributors and film funding bodies – in an open forum.

AIDC encourages filmmakers to begin thinking about projects to pitch before confirmed decision makers are announced and applications open on December 2 via www.aidc.com.au.

The FACTory is open to any non-fiction screen project seeking finance including documentary shorts, one-off feature documentaries, documentary series and specialist factual programs.

“The FACTory is inspired by the success of well-established international pitching events such as Hot Docs in Toronto, the IDFA Forum in Amsterdam, and Good Pitch2 Australia,” said AIDC CEO and conference director Britt Arthur.

“We are working hard to bring new players to the table, alongside established broadcasters, to help open new doors and assist producers raise finance in the rapidly changing media landscape.”

AIDC 2016 will be held at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image from February 28 –  March 3. The FACTory will take place in Federation Square’s Deakin Edge on March 2  from 9.30am – 5pm.

Selection criteria and applications will be available from December 2 at www.aidc.com.au. Applications close on January 12.

A one-day ‘Honing Your Pitch’ session will be offered for successful applicants in Melbourne on February 28. For submission requirements or enquiries please contact: pitch@aidc.com.au
