Screenworks North Queensland projects manager Riannon Del Favero will head up Screen Queensland’s Cairns facility as studio manager.
Her appointment was confirmed via a post on LinkedIn, with the agency saying it was looking forward to Del Favero joining the team on January 29.
She brings more than 17 years of screen experience to the role, having held various production roles at Cornerbox Productions, Southern Star Productions Seven Network, and Nine throughout her career.
Del Favero has worked in Cairns since 2020, serving as 2nd assistant director on Jaggi Entertainment series Dive Club and production coordinator Warner Bros Entertainment cooking contest Snackmasters, before taking up her role at Screenworks, where she has helped support Screen Queensland’s North Queensland Regional Program.
She will now be tasked with overseeing the agency’s new $6.8 million facility, which is set to open this year.
Located just outside the Cairns CBD at the corner of Spence and Fearnley Streets, the 1.5 hectare studio will house a sound stage and support facilities, including production offices, construction, wardrobe, and hair and makeup departments, along with an events space and permanent creative tenancy opportunities.
Part of the Queensland Government’s plan to grow the screen industry in Far North Queensland, the Cairns studio will complement Screen Queensland Studios in Brisbane in the state’s capital, and other facilities on the Gold Coast.
